Necklace Capsules

I have a friend who always looks put together, with jewelry that looks chic yet effortless. The secret: create bundles of complementary necklaces in various lengths to suit any neckline. I call these "necklace capsules."

What is a necklace capsule? Think of it as a capsule wardrobe, but for jewelry. I started putting "necklace capsules" together for myself years ago, long before capsule wardrobes were a thing. I would group up necklaces that worked well layered together and hang them on S hooks in my closet. When it came time to travel, I would simply grab an entire necklace capsule, roll up the necklaces into a small towel, and presto: a lifesaver for business travel.

Ready accessories on the go. Even when I'm not traveling, necklace capsules make it fast and easy for me to pick out few necklaces to glam up an outfit. I rotate necklace capsules in / out every month or so for a fresh look.

The key to necklace capsules is to have a variety of necklace lengths. You want to have necklaces that work with any neckline and give you lots of options for layering necklaces together.

Something New - For the past month I've been trying out something new: selling some of my necklace capsules on Poshmark. The pieces work individually and layered. I'm going to be listing more of my necklace capsules soon. In the meantime, I'm sharing some here. Parting with these has been harder than I thought it would be, and I'm grateful for the Love Notes I've been receiving from Poshers about these necklace capsules.

June 2019 update: all of my necklace capsules on Poshmark are sold.

How to tell if a Coach Bag is Authentic

I've been wanting to write this post for a long time. I got my first coach bag in the 1970s, and acquired 2 to 3 bags every year since. For me, getting a Coach bag was akin to getting a special treasure. Five decades of beautiful Coach bags: vintage to current! This year I began posting my Coach bags on Poshmark. The first few bags were agonizing to part with. Agonizing! Each has a memory: a special occasion, a fav outfit.. But I've since received really nice feedback from Poshers about my bags. It now makes me feel great to know my bags are going to fashionistas who appreciate them. As I listed my Coach bags on Poshmark, along the way I received lots of questions about Coach bags. Far and away, the most recurring questions concerned authenticity. "How can I tell if [this] bag is authentic?" For example, here's a question I recently received: knicasio  Since you have been collecting Coach bags for such a long time, perhaps you could offer some advice on ...

Bridal Jewelry

When I got married, I found it overwhelming and difficult to choose jewelry to go with my wedding dress. I knew that wedding jewelry is important, a key part of a bride's look. But I didn't know how to choose.  My engagement and wedding rings would be worn every day, and investing in nice pieces made sense. But bridal jewelry is usually worn just once. I wanted well-crafted jewelry that looked beautiful and didn't cost a fortune.  In my Poshmark closet (my Poshmark closet is @rivergirl35 - shameless plug!) I specialize in jewelry. In the past couple of years I've learned a lot about styling jewelry.  This post is about what I wish I'd known when choosing jewelry for my own bridal outfit when I got married.  Everyone will say that the most important factor in choosing jewelry is your neckline. That is absolutely true. Always, start with the neckline.  Next, everyone will tell you that less is more. In that thread of logic, the standard advice ...

This post is all about deciphering the  serial numbers on Coach bags. Here you'll find step-by-step instructions on how to understand a Coach Creed. I've also included some example photos along with references to guides to help with determining authenticity of a Coach bag.  I recommend you start by perusing this article by Vintage Coach Bags:   http://vintagecoachbags.com/index.php/authenticity-guide/ If you don't have time to read the article all the way through, I've provided some quick highlights below.    Coach Bags Made After 1994 Here's what your post-1994 bag's serial number may contain.
